8.) If you're new to the Follow Friday hop, comment and let the hosts know so they can check out your blog.

This weeks question:
How do you write your reviews?

Answer:

I take forever to write a review because I'm so picky about every little thing and critical over everything I write . When I start reading a book I'll get the beginnings of the review started by going ahead a placing the cover picture and typing up the synopsis. Then after I finish the book I'll try to start the actual review but a good bit of the time I have to wait a day to get all my thoughts together. Once I do start writing everything down I'll read and re-read everything to make sure it makes since and I'm not rambling and no typos although I'm sure I miss a few. And a lot of times it will take me even longer to write a review because of other things needing my attention like my kids, garden and youth group activities and fundraisers. I'll try to write my reviews quickly but my picky behavior and other responsibilities make it difficult. I'd stay up late at night to write them but by the time I get the boys in the bed I'm totaled lol. I wish I could say that I had this huge process but I don't.

So, what about you, how do you write your reviews?

  1. I usually start my reviews as soon as I'm done with a book, but I write them out over the course of a few days. This usually allows me to change and add things as I remember them.

  2. I get started on a review as soon as I'm done with a book so that I don't forget all the points I wanted to make :). Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

    1. You're Welcome Claire. I'd love to get started with the review as soon as I finish with a book but my brain is usually a jumbled mess right after. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Hopping through. In some ways I wish it took me longer to write a review because I'd like to be more thoughtful.

  4. It seems none of us really have a clear cut process. While I have a "vague" scheme of how I do things, every review turns out differently. I might not touch on a particular topic as much as I do in another review. Though I do always try to write them right after finishing a book because I don't want to forget details and usually I am eager for my next read!

  5. I get so nervous writing a review because I want it to be perfect! I'm worried that I'll miss something important and I don't want to forget anything. And I need to control my emotions if I loved or hated it. Old follower!

    1. I'm so critical of everything I write and get nervous that it won't be a good review, and when I really liked a book I always end up rambling and have to fix it lol. Thanks for stopping by Lizzie!

  6. Than you so much for your comment and following me. Following you back on Bloglovin'!

For me it takes long time too to write a review since I get distracted very easily...

    1. You're Welcome! I get distracted really easily too. I like to have noise when I read and when I write my reviews so I'll turn the TV on but I have to put it on a show that I don't like or I'll end up watching TV instead of reading and writing. Thanks for stopping by and for the returned follow!

  7. I'm such a perfectionist that it takes me a while to think of what to write and then I just hope that I can get it down the way I had it in my head.

    1. I hate when I think of something to write and it sounds absolutely brilliant in my head but the minuet that I write it down it sounds absolutely ridiculous lol. Thanks for stopping by Stina!

  8. I usually write my reviews pretty quickly...It just depends on the book and my feelings toward it. When I love a book I can just go crazy spilling all of my thoughts; followed by some editing. When I don't like a book, however, I end up taking a lot of time making sure that everything is respectful while still remaining honest.

    1. I try to remain respectful and honest too. I wish I was able to finish a book and start writing but I'm just to critical of my writing I'll sit and think to much on what I want to say. Thanks for stopping by Sophie!

  9. Your approach to writing reviews sounds SO much like mine! I, too, am VERY picky and critical. When I sit down to type the actual review, I just let the words flow, and then I like to step away from it for a while. When I come back, I go over what I have written with a fine-tooth comb, so to speak. I want to make sure there are NO typos, words omitted (this happens sometimes, because my brain is racing ahead of my hands, lol), and NO awkward-sounding sentences or phrases.

This all sounds like an agonizing process, doesn't it? Haha!! But then it's worth all this effort in the end!

I'm now following you with GFC! Thanks for your thoughts!! : )

  10. I'm with you. I put so much pressure on myself. I quit blogging once before though because it became a chore so I'm trying to keep it fun and light this time around. I still get frustrated that my reviews aren't great, but in the end, I just say what I can and try to let it be. Easier said then done, of course. ;-) Thanks for stopping by my blog.

    1. You're welcome! I try to keep it fun too. If I feel like I'm getting overwhelmed and overloaded myself with stuff and fighting to keep up so to speak, I'll stop a few memes for a few weeks and ''try'' not to put so much pressure on myself. You got it right, it is a lot easier said than done. Thanks for stopping by.

  11. That's a great idea - getting the synopsis and book cover picture out of the way early! I'm going to borrow that tip! ;) Old follower!

    1. Thanks, That's a lot easier for me where it takes me multiple sessions at the computer to get a review finished. I'll tell myself I'm that much closer to finishing. Thanks for stopping by Maggie
